About us

We bought Caroline in 2020 and after quite a lot of renovation, along with the sale of our restaurant in Brittany, we finally opened our bed and breakfast in May 2022. We welcome guests aboard our beautiful, 100 year old Dutch barge, Caroline to stay in one of our 3 bedrooms equipped with private bathroom and air conditioning. Whether you arrive on bike or by car, you will enjoy the tranquility and calm of our secluded mooring situated approximately 5km from Capestang, a thriving  canal-side village with several restaurants, bars and a twice-a-week market. Your room includes breakfast, but you may also wish to enjoy an evening meal aboard or perhaps take a picnic for your bike ride. Please contact us for details of menus and prices. Our four-legged friends are more than welcome, but please let us know beforehand as we also have a dog. Please bring their basket and lead as we don't allow dogs on the beds. We don't accept cats or 'Category 1' dogs.

Rules

The barge isn't suitable for young children, babies or disabled people. The reason for this is the obvious proximity to water, as well as steep stairs to access the cabins and terrace. Older children should be supervised at all times.

Toilets have a macerator pump, so nothing apart from the toilet roll provided (and anything you've eaten!) should be flushed down them OR THEY WILL BLOCK!!

Our dog, Dr. Watson enjoys meeting and greeting guests, but he would like advance warning if any four-legged friends are going to stay! Please let us know. Also, the steps to access the cabins are steep and difficult to negotiate for dogs. Please bring a bed for your dog to sleep on the floor, as we don't allow dogs on the beds. Please also accompany your dog at all times, we don't allow dogs to be left alone in the rooms. Unfortunately, we don't accept cats or 'Category 1' dogs.

Check in time is AFTER 5pm and check out time is BEFORE 11am. If you're staying for more than one night, we kindly ask you to leave the boat between 12pm and 5pm. The reason is that we are often not on the boat in the afternoons, so it is for your safety and security.
